Clinical Orientation

What is clinical orientation?

Clinical orientation is an important piece of your onboarding as a clinical Caregiver. Information covered throughout clinical orientation is required by either TJC, CMS or Centra, per regulatory requirements. Clinical orientation is a paid-time class, as is the time you spend completing the modules in preparation for the class.

We provide a flipped classroom approach that requires you to complete pre work online modules to preview the information covered during in-person orientation, which will take place in a classroom setting. You will then be tested on this information. This will prepare you to safely care for your patients while following Centra's policies and procedures.

  • Location: Centra College (905 Lakeside Drive, Suite A Lynchburg, VA 24501)
  • Time: 8:15 am - 3:30 pm, registration begins at 8 am
  • Communication: You will receive a welcome email with an invitation to clinical orientation the Monday of your start date with Centra, no later than noon.

Please note: No one will be admitted entry after the class has started at 9 am and all new Caregivers must stay until the end of the session.

Elsevier

Elsevier modules for clinical orientation will be assigned on the Monday of your start date, no later than noon.

  • Pre-Work consists of required learning modules to prepare you for class. Pre-work takes about 4-8 hours to complete based on your previous knowledge level and must be completed prior to attending in-person clinical orientation. If your modules are not completed, you will be asked to complete them and return to clinical orientation on another day, delaying your onboarding.

Please note: All assignments need to be completed on a laptop or desk top computer. Elsevier modules will not work on your cellular device. Elsevier works best on Microsoft Edge and/or Google Chrome. If you do not have access to a laptop/desk top computer, please utilize the LGH Library Computer Lab.
